The Kasa Integration allows you to import TP-Link Kasa devices, such as bulbs, plugs, and switches, into Hubitat. These devices must be first set up in the Kasa mobile app. These devices can then be added to Hubitat via this integration.
This integration works for Kasa devices of supported types. See the List of Compatible Devices for the specific devices known to be compatible. Notable exclusions include the fact that Matter-capable Kasa products are not compatible with this integration (e.g., the KP125M, as opposed to the non-Matter KP125). However, such devices may be added directly via the Matter integration.
The Kasa integration offers local control only as of current hub platform versions (cloud control is no longer available due to Kasa server changes).
NOTE: Some users have reported that updating firmware on their Kasa devices has prevented local control (i.e., over the LAN rather than cloud) from working. If you prefer local control and have a Kasa device currently controllable locally, you may wish to consider avoiding firmware updates on that device and ensuring automatic device firmware updates in the Kasa app are disabled to prevent this from happening without intervention.
Most users will want to begin with Scan LAN for Kasa devices to add and follow the prompts to add any desired devices to Hubitat. For more information from the original developer, see the “?” icon in the upper-right corner of the app, or visit https://github.com/DaveGut/HubitatActive/blob/master/KasaDevices/README.md.
While not required, it is strongly recommended to create DHCP reservations (or another effectively “static” IP address) for your Kasa devices when using this integration, particularly if you have more than one Kasa device on your network. Consult your home networking equipment documentation to learn how to do this in your particular setup if you are unsure.
As of platform 2.3.3, the Kasa integration is a built-in Hubitat app. Users of the previous community integration may continue using it as-is, or they may migrate to the built-in offering manually. You must use one app or the other; both apps cannot be used for the same device at the same time. (We thank the community developer for his work on both integrations!)
