Hubitat Elevation includes a built-in OpenWeatherMap driver. This allows retriving currently reported weather conditions for your (or any) location for use in automations, display on a dashboard, etc. Additionally a device using the OpenWeatherMap driver on your hub will be used to feed data to the Weather Quick View capsule on the hub home page (a feature introduced in release 2.4.3.149). This gives you an easy, at-a-glance look at the current conditions.
To set up OpenWeatherMap, you'll need to create a virtual device and configure it with your location and a free API key. Here's how:
Get Your OpenWeather API Key
Add the Virtual Device
Configure the Driver
Configure Location and API Key
That's it! Once the device is configured and has successfully fetched data from OpenWeather, the new Weather capsule will automatically be added to your Quick View capsules at the top of your hub home page (note that while there are other weather drivers, both built-in and third-party, only OpenWeatherMap can be used for this feature). Additionally, attributes/events from the device will be usable in automations and other apps, the same as any device.
