Mobile apps for both iOS and Android are available to control devices on the local network as well as remotely. However, the hub’s administrative interface is only available using a browser. An embedded browser is available on the mobile app for convenience, but for the best experience, we recommend using a regular browser on your desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. For details on how to navigate the user interface, check out this document: https://docs2.hubitat.com/user-interface
Any Z-Wave or Zigbee (ZHA 1.2 or Zigbee 3.0) device can be connected to the hub, as well as most Matter devices and a variety of LAN and cloud devices. For a complete list of tested devices, see the following document: https://docs2.hubitat.com/devices/list-of-compatible-devices
Why does my device not work with Hubitat? Many "smart" devices are designed to work only in their manufacturer's specific app or system. If they do not follow a standard protocol such as Z-Wave, Zigbee, or Matter, or have an official, documented (preferably local API), we do not have any way to integrate with the device. We suggest contacting your device manufacturer to indicate that you are interested in Hubitat compatibility.
That being said, many Z-Wave, Zigbee, and Matter devices that are not on our "official" list are still likely to work with the hub using standard built-in drivers. However, we recommend sticking to this list when starting out to ensure the best experience.
Make sure the device is Z-Wave, Zigbee, Matter, or a compatible LAN or cloud device (see above). If a Z-Wave device fails to include, try an exclusion first. If a Matter device fails to pair, ensure you are using a pairing code from a Matter controller to which it is joined (not the code on the device itself). Wi-Fi connectivity is available on model C-8 and C-8 Pro; however, for best experience, it is highly recommended to use a wired connection. For a step-by-step process of connecting your hub to your network, see https://go.hubitat.com (for models C-8 and C-8 Pro) or the address on the QR code on the card inside the box your hub came in.
Visit https://findmyhub.hubitat.com from a device connected to the same network as your hub to discover your hub on your network. If supported on your network and the default network name is not changed, http://hubitat.local will also work to connect on most networks. If neither method works, make sure the LED on the front of your hub is green. If blue, see if you can connect via the Diagnostic Tool to reboot the hub or try additional troubleshooting. If off or red, remove power from the hub for a few seconds and try again.
